Course Description
By William Mclaughlin (w.mclaughlin@btinternet.com)
I used to be a junior member at Greenburn until 1961 when I left school and moved to England.
On my way though to the Open Championship at Carnoustie with my two nephews from Lancashire in July 1999, we stopped off to play a round of golf at Greenburn Golf Club to see how the course had changed in the intervening thirty eight years.
All of us were pleasantly surprised at the excellent condition of the course, allowing for the fact that it poured with rain for most of the day. It is still a good test of golf for most players I would imagine.
The catering staff in the clubhouse were extremely helpful and friendly, which was much commented upon by my nephews after we had returned South.
For any golfer in that part of the country with a few hours to spare, Greenburn is well worth a visit.
