I grew up playing this golf course, walking there from school along a disused railway line! I can't speak to the condition of the course these days, other than it was always better in the latter part of the playing season, but the character of the course holds many fond memories. Classic modern golf course architecture this is not. However, each hole has a character of its own and a definite rustic charm. Despite the parallel nature of several of the fairways, no two holes are remotely alike and for a lover of short, strategic, par fours, this track is a delight. Great holes? The 3rd is an excellent par 4, slightly doglegging around a stream to a green tucked into an acute corner of the course. The par 5 6th always offered interesting possibilities for success and failure. The 12th is brutally long and blind, much closer to a 5 than it's par four. The 17th is another 5 that invites a shot over the trees and looks an easy birdie on the card . . . All of that aside, the "signature" hole for the course must be the eighteenth. When we were growing up this hole measured 114 yards and was the most inviting proposition a young golfer could imagine. It was picturesque, reachable in all conditions and a fantastic finishing hole that could conceivably yield anything from a 2 to a 5. Play and enjoy.

Easter Moffat is a lovely parkland course situated about 15 minutes from Airdrie (North Lanarkshire) town centre. The conditions tee to green are excellent and has the real feel of a well keep golf course. Highlights of the course include the par 5 sixth. A hole of no more than 490-500 hundred yards that can play a long four if your drive makes it to the brow of the up-hill driving area. From the brow of the hill you are faced with a shot of around 160-170 yards, there is a gully about 30 yards short of the green that is bunkered on the up-slop and at it lowest point is about 30 feet blow you from the brow of the driving area hill. The choices are obvious: have a go for the green and face a drop of about 15-20 feet if you go green high to the left, or lay up short of the bunkers in the gully and leave yourself a 30 to 50 yards sandwedge; with a tree lined out-of-bound running along the right-hand edge of the hole, jutting into play in strategic areas, this is an excellent hole. The most attractive hole has to be the par three eighteenth. A hole of 120 yards that drops 70-80 feet tee to green. Four bunkers surround the green and a burn runs about 10 yards in front. What appears to be a solid wedge can play very deceptively depending on conditions and the shear drop from tee to green really sows the seeds of doubt as you stand over the ball; not a nice place to be if you need a three for a hold! In all the course is very good, a real challenge at it sss of 70. It can feel a lot longer in the wind, but on a sunny, dry, calm afternoon there are few, if any, to match its 'enjoyability' in the area.

A good course to play, although long in comparison to some others. Not too difficult for beginners. Very well kept fairways and greens, and well set out. Recommended.
