Course Description
The present course was laid out by James Braid in the 1920's. an Open qualifying course when the open is in St Andrews. It is a mixture of Heathland and parkland. This is a thinkers course.

The best greens I have playing on, fast soft and totally wonderful just that is worth a visit to this course. Dont forget to dress good that is a must!

We played this course in late April and had a wonderful time. It is a challenging course and the staff is most friendly. I recommend this highly to anyone visiting the area.

Scotscraig golf club is without doubt one of the most underrated course in Great Britain. It is a mixture of heath parkland and links with particularly fine putting surfaces.
There are some holes which stand out above the rest, with the fourth the finest. A hole where you cannot take diver or you will run out of fairway, you then find yourself with a medium to short iron over wasteland to and tiny elevated green with whins to the left and right and 'ob' through the back.
If this has wetted your appetite you should go and play what is a fantastic test of golf, just remember to take a few sleeves of balls, when its windy you will need them.

I only hope my review will encourage some people go because of it. An excellent course and well worth its status as an open qualifying course. This might be because I am a member and therefore biased but it is true. If you play one of the courses at St. Andrews then it is worth a 15 minute drive to Tayport to play Scotscraig.
